
Splashers
Focuses on body movement and prepares students to move through the water independently by building on the principles taught in Splishers. Students should be able to move two or more body lengths on both their front and their back. This level is designed for students who can release the wall and start their own body movement.
If the student can accomplish all Splisher tasks, but cannot accomplish one of more of the Splasher tasks, he or she is considered a Splasher
Front Crawl
Prone glide with instructor, face in water
Prone glide, push off wall with face in water
Prone glide, push off wall with kick and face in water
Front crawl arm stroke with assistance
Front crawl arm stroke without assistance, no kick
Front crawl arm stroke without assistance with kick
Prone glide with breathing
Combined front crawl
Backstroke
Back glide with assistance
Back glide push off wall without assistance
Back glide with kick with assistance
Back glide push off wall with kick without assistance
Backstroke arms with assistance, no kick
Combined backstroke
Advanced Water Entry
Jump in without assistance; recover to surface
Jump in without assistance; swim to instructor
Start front crawl and swim two or more body lengths
Start backstroke and swim two or more body lengths
All skills should be demonstrated with confidence on the part of the student. Any movement should be completed over a length of two or more student body lengths.
