
Paddlers
Focuses on completing basic stroke training. By the end of this level, students should be able to move across the pool using frontstroke and backstroke with breathing techniques. In addition, they will learn more advanced strokes such as the breaststroke and sidestroke. This level is designed for students who can move through the water independently and need to develop and refine their strokes.
Students must be able to complete all Splisher and Splasher tasks to be eligible for this class.
Review of Splishers & Splashers
Basic Swim Test
Complete one pool length of frontstoke
Complete one pool length of backstroke
Enter the water and start to swim both strokes
Sidestroke
Kick while on either side of body
Kick while on side of body, arm out, under head
Sidestroke arms while standing still
Sidestroke arms while on side, no kick
Whip kick on wall
Combine sidestroke
Breaststroke
Prone glide with breaststroke kick
Breaststroke arms with no kick
Combine stroke with no breathing
Combine breaststroke with breathing
Stamina
Complete two or more laps of the same stroke
Complete two or more laps of different strokes
All skills should be demonstrated with confidence on the part of the student. Any movement should be completed over a length of two or more student body lengths.
